Southern States Struggle with 100s Streak

The above photo shows the heat levels for the Southern states. Texas has had record levels of heat this year and rainfall comparing to the amount in Arizona. Both states have shown similar heat levels for 2011 and rain levels this year.
Since May Texas has seen some high temperatures. On average they see about 28 years of over 100 degree weather and currently they have had 100 days over 100 degrees. A new record this year by having 52 days straight of three digit weather. A big problem with the high temperature is the little rain fall. In Wichita Falls Texas they haven't had a drought this bad since the 1950s. Even though rain fall is very little in Texas they compare to Arizona/desert conditions amount of rainfall. Year to date Wichita Falls has only received about  4 inches of rain.Wow!
